Karacasu favoured in Rebel Raider Final

A wide draw and big weight stand between Karacasu and the $102,250 Rebel Raider Series Final (1200m) at Morphettville.

The promising son of Headwater has never finished further back than second in his five starts and a win will secure valuable prizemoney as they plan a trip north for the rich Magic Millions Guineas on the Gold Coast.

“He’s ready to go,’’ co-trainer Richard Jolly said.

Jolly was not phased by a wide draw given the horse will settle back and come with a sweeping run.

“We’ll give him plenty of room and hopefully get over the top of them,’’ Jolly said.

“He’s giving weight away to some nice horses, but he’s dropping in weight on last time and he’s going to be hard to beat for sure,’’ he said.

The stable also have handy mare Graciebird engaged later in the day and Jolly said the mare was also capable despite a wide gate.

“I think she’s got a hope,’’ Jolly said.

“She’s improved a lot since her first run. She has drawn wide and is going to have to slot back and find cover and then need some luck.

“But she’s always runs well,’’ he said.

And they have All Banter second-up in the Caulfield Sprint.

“Things didn’t go to plan first-up when she was a little slow to jump,’’ Jolly said.

“It’s a hot field but she goes over in good shape,’’ he said.
