Motivated Metcalfe ready to go

Stacey Metcalfe will be try and hit the ground running when she returns from a forced stint on the sidelines and jumps back in the saddle this weekend.

Metcalfe was gaining momentum among the SA riding ranks before she was outed for a ride at Murray Bridge in early May.

But rather than dwell on the incident, Metcalfe has worked hard securing a handy book of rides at Morphettville today despite losing her allowance claim during her time suspended.

“I’m ecstatic, I can’t wait,’’ Metcalfe said.

“I haven’t had a day off since.

“I was gobsmacked to come back and get that many rides, I can’t believe it,’’ she said.

Metcalfe, who moved from New South Wales to continue her career in Adelaide back in December, is keen to try and get back in the winner’s stall after a successful first six months in SA, riding 26 winners.

“I’m not so excited about coming back a senior, I would like to be coming back with the claim,’’ Metcalfe said.

“I was going great before I got suspended, everything was going fantastic.

“I would like to get as many rides as possible and hope to get a number of winners in a short amount of time so I can get going again.

“I feel like the quicker you get a winner, the quicker the ball starts rolling,’’ she said.

Metcalfe's comeback begins with three rides at Morphettville after scratchings. She'll then back that up with a busy book at Naracoorte on Sunday with four rides for the trainer she's currently riding work for - Strathalbyn's John Macmillan.
