Lincoln Moore's Strathalbyn preview

BEST: JONQUEST (Race 1)

EACH-WAY: MUSTARI (Race 7)

VALUE:  YULE MY HERO (Race 3)

RACE 1 - 1:20PM Adelaide Belt and Hose Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)

Looks the race for JONQUEST to lose. He has form in much stronger company having placed at three of five and was solid behind Spin The Reward last time.  The John Hyam pair of COUSIN JACK and JUSTEDEE have claims. COUSIN JACK trialled OK at Morphettville behind Melhoopen, while JUSTEDEE has been around the mark and could run a cheeky race back in trip after a handy trial. CAPTAIN BRIDGES was good running second to Koruto here and has claims despite a tricky wide gate.

SELECTIONS: JONQUEST, Justedee, Captain Bridges

RACE 2 - 2:00PM Team Poly Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)

Maiden with some depth. WHO RUNS THE WORLD was a $1.65 favourite when beaten by Smokin’ Val at Murray Bridge last August. That form looks pretty solid for a race like this. She then ran second behind Champagne Affair at Balaklava before chasing home Graciebird. She trialled well before resuming, running third behind Spin The Reward at Morphettville, and looks hard to beat from her inside draw. FREE OF SIN looks the logical danger with the blinkers going on. She has a handy record and was placed behind Investiture at Murray Bridge before a spell. She has the benefit of a recent Morphettville trial win. ZOMBIE WITNESS had jumped out well and was thrown in the deep end in the Cinderella Stakes on debut behind Seradess. She ran well at Oakbank behind Jimmy’ Edge and draws perfectly here. PARISIENNE MONDE had shown ability in her jump-outs and was in the market on debut, beaten 5.4 lengths in the Spin The Reward race at Morphettville. GOGOLF GURU has been around the mark and maps well from barrier five.

SELECTIONS: WHO RUNS THE WORLD, Free Of Sin, Zombie Witness

RACE 3 - 2:40PM Grundfos Three-Year-Old Class One Handicap (1100 METRES)

Chris Bieg’s CHOSEN BLONDE has talent and has been competitive in much better races than this. She beat home all but Beau Rossa two starts back before she lost her rider at Oakbank last time. She draws to lead and will take some running down. The main danger looks to be WIDE AWAKE, a former Lindsay Park galloper first-up for Will Clarken. She has been placed at Sale and Pakenham before coming to SA, is drawn awkwardly but is sure to give this a shake. KORUTO was an odds-on favourite when winning here last start and draws the inside gate. SEA WITNESS was heavily backed and won impressively at Oakbank last time. He was scratched from Morphettville on Saturday for this. YULE MY HERO is a nice horse and has trialled well for his return. ST JUST is a former Queenslander first-up for the Macdonald/Gluyas stable.

SELECTIONS: CHOSEN BLONDE, Wide Awake, Yule My Hero

RACE 4 - 3:15PM AAP Valves and Fittings Maiden/Class One Plate (Heat 9 Provincial Super Series) (2060 METRES)

A few progressive stayers here and there was a bit to like about the run of VICTORY BANDIT, running fifth behind Ecumenical in the Clare Lindop Stakes. That form again measured up in the Auraria Stakes yesterday and she looks a filly with a future. The early market support has been solid. ABERAMA GOLD ran well at Balaklava at a big price before smashing rivals by 12.7 lengths at Clare last time. Also draws a nice barrier. MY GOLDEN CHAIN is a winner here, but over the sprint trip and looked to have his chance at Oakbank before another honest effort behind Exalted Fire at Gawler. BRIABELLA was narrowly beaten at Naracoorte during the week, while TUFF CAT stays all day.

SELECTIONS: VICTORY BANDIT, Aberama Gold, My Golden Chain

RACE 5 - 3:50PM Philmac Benchmark 58 Handicap (Heat 10 SA Sprint Series) (1200 METRES)

ANNIKA is a winner here and her overall record is sound for a race like this. She chased home Ranger Cee Jay here two starts back before winning at Gawler and looks the one to beat with the help of a claim. SIR JOHNSON maps to get a gun run from the inside gate. He caught the eye at Oakbank behind Rizski and should be in the finish despite his big weight. RANGER CEE JAY has a good record on his home track. He won well two starts back beating Annika and is another who looks well placed with the help of a claim. HI SMOKEY was a good winner in maiden class three starts back and his past couple have been OK. PALE ALE would be winning a race like this on his best. He had trialled soundly before an OK first-up effort at Oakbank but could improve quickly.

SELECTIONS: ANNIKA, Sir Johnson, Ranger Cee Jay

RACE 6 - 4:25PM Davey Benchmark 54 Handicap (1600 METRES)

Wide open race and ended up with HOLY SANGRIA, who has placed at five of eight starts here and battled on OK behind Enbarr at Edenhope last time. She’s down in the weights and is drawn to get an OK run. At the other end of the weight scale JUST ROLLING can improve and was runner-up behind Saduka at Bordertown two runs back. MULLAGHMORE draws the carpark but was sent out a $2 chance at Clare last start. He looks suited in a race like this. NANAMU was a winner here three starts back and should get a nice run, while MR RANGER also draws to get a nice run.

SELECTIONS: HOLY SANGRIA, Just Rolling, Mullaghmore

RACE 7 - 5:00PM Daish Irrigation 25 years in Business / Vinidex Rating 0-62 Handicap (Heat 11 Autumn Series) (1350 METRES)

MUSTARI was a Balaklava winner before having a spell. He draws wide but has each-way appeal in a race like this. FIRE THUNDER made good ground first-up in SA for Travis Doudle, running second behind Better here. MISS ARTIER has three wins from six starts here and made good ground behind Ranger Cee Jay before getting back behind Going Gaga at Oakbank. CASHIN' CHEX was a Morphettville winner five runs back. He’s probably going to be looking for a touch further but has trialled OK and must be given some thought on his home track. A KNIGHT IN PARIS is a former Yulong horse who was with Darren Weir, Lindsay Park and then Will Clarken, and was a winner here last May.

SELECTIONS: MUSTARI, Fire Thunder, Cashin’ Chex
