Lincoln Moore's Naracoorte Preview

WIN: SANBLAS (Race 3)

EACH-WAY: COOL MAGNUM (Race 5)

VALUE: THE OLYMPIAN (Race 8)

RACE 1 - 12:45PM Hansen Print Maiden Plate (2000 METRES)

Looks a good race for BRIABELLA, who tackled the Morphettville Guineas two runs back. She was OK behind She’s Dreaming at Oakbank last time and finds a very winnable maiden. AQAAREB looks the danger. She’s been placed at seven of 16 and comes off an OK Oakbank effort when sent out favourite. FERGO’S BOYS draws the inside gate and was placed here two starts back. PENTELLIGENTSIA is a very fit horse coming off a big effort in the Great Eastern Steeple. MAGIC ACHIEVER could be an improver.

SELECTIONS: BRIABELLA, Aqaareb, Fergo’s Boys

RACE 2 - 1:20PM Naracoorte Motorcycles & Mowers Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)

Wide open race. SIXTYFOURTH STREET was solid in the market when running third at Penola on debut for Patrick Ryan. She’s poorly drawn but looks hard to beat after a couple of key scratchings. NATIVE BLUE has been placed at three of four starts and has the benefit of a recent Penola trial. SANDHILL REBEL has been around the mark. TATEYAMA comes up short in the early markets and was only beaten 3.85 lengths at Moonee Valley on debut. DEVIL WEARS PRADA is a debutant wearing blinkers on debut. LIME SPIDER has trialled up well for his debut for the Dodson stable.

SELECTIONS: SIXTYFOURTH STREET, Native Blue, Sandhill Rebel

Race 3 - 1:55PM Stock Agents 2nd May Maiden Plate (1430 METRES)

Looks a good chance for SANBLAS to break through. He had specking at a price on debut when narrowly beaten by Better at Balaklava. His second start was OK there behind Sweet Distraction and he maps well from the good barrier. THE AFFIRMATIVE had OK NSW form before she was only beaten 2.2 lengths behind Comfort Girl at her SA debut at Oakbank. She has appeal. SMART PROMISE has been placed at 10 of 24 starts and had market support at Oakbank behind Reynolds, who has won again since. DUGGEE’S BOY is an improving type who led when only run down late behind Blueberry Boy at Penola last time. NOVIQUE is on debut and wears blinkers, while MWAH is trained at Ballarat and on debut for a new stable after two NSW runs, so watch for any betting support.

SELECTIONS: SANBLAS, The Affirmative, Smart Promise

RACE 4 - 2:30PM Enviro Tec Benchmark 62 Handicap (Heat 8 SA Sprint Series) (1000 METRES)

Looks to be some speed drawn out wide here with DESERT SPIRIT, who has a good record and was back to winning form at Warracknabeal last time. TURF TAPPER was good first-up at Oakbank running fourth behind Rizski and was placed his only start here. He should settle off the speed and be strong late. WANDO BEL was favourite when second behind Lancaster Sound at Bordertown two starts back and does draw to be handy. KLIPPEN draws a good gate and should be handy to the speed after running second at Bordertown last time. GRASSMERE MISS maps well, was a Hamilton winner back in May and has been placed fresh previously. GAMBLER’S GIRL has a good record here and gets the blinkers on.

SELECTIONS: TURF TAPPER, Desert Spirit, Wando Bel

Race 5 - 3:05PM Marana Park Thoroughbreds Benchmark 64 Handicap (Heat 9 Autumn Series) (1430 METRES)

COOL MAGNUM is unbeaten in two runs here and found the line well behind Casino Seventeen at Oakbank. That form stood up through the Port Adelaide Guineas last weekend. He’s drawn a bad gate but is well placed here and looks a nice each-way play. STRYKE IN STYLE ran a nice race in handy company at Morphettville on Adelaide Cup Day first-up from a spell and was then sent out favourite at Oakbank behind Magic Reward. He draws wide but should give this a shake. MACCABEE is an interesting runner. He’s only lightly raced but would need to find on his first-up effort at Oakbank, although he did finish off OK. He was beaten a tick over two lengths Sandown last prep which is solid for a race like this. MAGIC REWARD was well ridden to score at nice odds at Oakbank last time and must be respected on that effort in a similar race here. PEWTER is racing well and was too good for Splash Some Cash last time. He races well here on his home track and should be thereabouts. BOSSY BRITCHES is back in trip after a very good run last time and should get a gun run from barrier four. Stablemate GREETINGS NED is going well, being placed five of his past six, but draws an awkward alley. Look for ACE OF CLUBS to be finishing off strongly, although he’ll be looking for further.

SELECTIONS: COOL MAGNUM, Stryke In Style, Maccabee

RACE 6 - 3:40PM Elders Insurance Benchmark 72 Handicap (Heat 8 Provincial Super Series) (2000 METRES)

The McEvoy stable brings MONTEFERRANTE here on the back of a very good effort at Morphettville where she hit the line strongly, beaten a half-length behind Exalted Beast. She should get the right run from gate five and is the clear top pick. CUBAN TOONITE is racing in great form, winning two of his past three, and looks a danger. Stablemate FAST PLAN has been around the mark recently and was off the map at Gawler five runs back. His latest at Penola was OK behind Runbro. JESTER HALO was very well backed before getting a mile back at Penola last time. She is more than capable and suited via a claim at the top of the weights. SPLASH SOME CASH is racing well and must be respected form a good gate.

SELECTIONS: MONTEFERRENTE, Cuban Toonite, Jester Halo

RACE 7 - 4:15PM Racelands Benchmark 54 Handicap (1430 METRES)

Wide open race with plenty of chances and a lot of them drawn sticky wide gates. HOLY SANGRIA doesn’t win out of turn but looks well graded here. Her Morphettville placing behind Mavette was good and she stuck on well behind Enbarr last time at Edenhope. JENEFACTOR was placed at Edenhope before a good effort, beaten 1.9 lengths, behind Miss Mosh at Penola last time. BELLATOR was runner-up behind Enbarr at Edenhope three runs back before being sent out favourite at Colac. That form should measure-up here. GRAND HOST is poorly drawn but does get Todd Pannell to help offset a poor barrier. IMPULSE DIAVOLO has a good record here and could be an improver on his Oakbank run, which was better than it reads on paper. APPLIED is another who ran well at Oakbank, making ground from a long way back. BAD MOON RISING draws to be handy, while IS THAT SO is another well drawn.

SELECTIONS: HOLY SANGRIA, Jenefactor, Applied

RACE 8 - 4:50PM Coopers Brewery Benchmark 58 Handicap (1200 METRES)

Another race that’s very hard to line up. THE OLYMPIAN gets his chance to get back to the winners’ list. He showed ability last campaign and was tested at Listed level in the Hill Smith Stakes. He’s back in trip but the key to him finding form may be the addition of blinkers. He’s big odds for a horse of his ability. REAL VALENTIA is having just his third start but showing promise and led throughout to win at Penola last time. This is harder but he has upside and the Lee Creek stable is going nicely. MADAM MISCHIEF will find this much easier than her latest at Sandown when she led in the race won by Beau Rossa. CARLALUISA was impressive first-up for James Dodgson at Edenhope before running down the track in town, but she’s back in class here. MANHATTAN ARCH wasn’t far away last time. THANASI is going well but drawn off the track. KHANI STAR won two consecutive races at Gawler earlier this campaign and must be considered. TITAN I AM was racing well at the end of last year and could improve from a good barrier on the back of a nice trial.

SELECTIONS: THE OLYMPIAN, Real Valentia, Madam Mischief
