Lincoln Moore's Oakbank preview

BEST BET: PIMM’S PARTY (Race 1)

EACH-WAY: AMBIDAZZLE (Race 9)

VALUE: SANDBANKS (Race 8)

RACE 1 - 12:06PM Klose's Supermarkets Three-Year-Old Benchmark 68 Handicap (1400 METRES)

Looks a race in two on paper between PIMM’S PARTY and CASINO SEVENTEEN. PIMM’S PARTY was well backed to win softly back in class two starts ago, before a good run behind Echoes In Eternity on Adelaide Cup. Getting out in trip looks ideal, she has plenty of upside and draws a good gate. Likewise CASINO SEVENTEEN is progressive and he was brave fighting off Morty last time. He stays at 1400m and is sure to give this a shake. IMPOSSIBLE ACTION has been good at his past two and should get a nice run from an inside gate. COOL MAGNUM ran well up in class last time.

SELECTIONS: PIMM’S PARTY, Casino Seventeen, Impossible Action

RACE 2 - 12:41PM Whoflungdung Battler's Bolt Maiden Plate (Special Conditions) (1400 METRES)

Happy to sit this one out and watch. REYNOLDS is a former European first-up for Michael Hickmott. This five-year-old gelding was placed at his first two starts in Europe and hasn’t raced since running 10th of 14 at Sha Tin. PRINCE SAIYAN had handy Victorian form and his latest behind Ultimate View at Strathalbyn was good enough to give this a shake GIMME A REASON looks well suited here with a recent Ararat placing and he has the benefit of being trained here and a recent trial under his belt. YE HELLA was placed at Strathalbyn last time and gets back out in trip. ANGRY ANT had specking at big odds in town two starts back and wasn’t far away last time despite being soft in betting. SMART PROMISE has been placed 10 times but also had 23 chances to win a maiden.

SELECTIONS: REYNOLDS, Prince Saiyan, Angry Ant

RACE 3 - 1:17PM Qube Logistics Harry D Young Hurdle (3600 METRES)

DOUBLE BLUFF had a solid grounding on the flat before an impressive win at Warrnambool at his first jumps start for the season at Warrnambool. He’s finished fourth and sixth in Adelaide Cups and looks the on to beat. Stablemate INSTIGATOR has had two runs back from a spell on the flat and hasn’t been bad in either. He’s had the one Cranbourne trial in between. He’s going to be short of his peak fitness but did win the JJ Houlihan at Ballarat back in August. MR COYNE was good winning here on Sunday by 10 lengths and his form on the flat prior was very good. He looks a danger. BRITANNICUS has a good record on the flat and should strip fitter for one run back from a spell. WHITE HEATH is a former local who has been firm in betting at his two jumps starts this time around and must be respected.

SELECTIONS: DOUBLE BLUFF, Instigator, Mr Coyne

RACE 4 - 1:56PM Melba's Chocolates Benchmark 72 Handicap (Heat 4 Sprint Series) (1100 METRES)

TOFF LOVE was very good making ground from the back behind Taken Off two starts back and again was only beaten 2.5 lengths behind Little Rich Boy at Morphettville on Adelaide Cup Day. The winkers go on here and he has each-way appeal. STAGE FRONT was a Sandown winner two starts back before a solid effort behind Larkham. He debuts for the Jon O’Connor stable from a perfect gate. ZARACE is a winner at his only start here and was going super last preparation, running second at his past three. He’s placed at four of five fresh and must be respected. HEAVENLY BRIDGES is a former Victorian on debut for Kirsten Mooney, was a Moonee Valley winner in February but has drawn a tricky gate. JUST CHIPPING AWAY defeated Taken Off four starts back and should be fitter for two runs back from a spell. DISSOLUTE has been good winning his past couple back in class.

SELECTIONS: TOFF LOVE, Stage Front, Just Chipping Away

RACE 5 - 2:37PM Ecycle Solutions Great Eastern Steeplechase (4950 METRES)

ZED EM is the class runner and he was brave on Wednesday when gathered in on the line in the Von Doussa. He raced a touch keen through the middle stages and if he can settle better he’ll take the world of beating. SPYING ON YOU could be the danger. He missed the Von Doussa, like he did before winning this race in 2019, and he has a great record around here. He also has a big pull in the weights on the favourite from this race in 2019, when he finished runner-up to Zed Em. ASCOT RED has been favourite at his two jumps starts this time around. He’s in clever hands and could be the fresh horse to cause an upset here. GETTING LEGGIE had trialled well before he was disappointing here on Wednesday, beaten 39.6 lengths. He would need a dramatic turnaround. ELVISON was good during his first look at Oakbank in the Von Doussa. He looks a genuine improver here and has won over 3800m at Casterton. LUCQUES was good in third spot in the Von Doussa and his form is solid. However, he might just lack the killer punch to beat the big boys. PENTELLIGENTSIA is up in class but needs to be respected.

SELECTIONS: ZED Em, Spying On You, Ascot Red

RACE 6 - 3:16PM O'Leary Walker Wines Onkaparinga Cup (2150 METRES)

DEXTER YOU DEVIL is a smart horse with 12 wins from his 38 starts. He was perfectly ridden to bounce back to winning form and claim a second successive Port Lincoln Cup last time. He’s never won beyond the 1950m, but looks perfectly drawn in barrier four and his turn of foot could be the key to him winning here. EPERDUMENT is a good mare who gives her all and her Adelaide Cup run was superb when second behind Good Idea. She’s back sharply in trip but is more than capable of winning over the 2150m. ANALYTICA has been racing well and is knocking on the door and despite again being drawn awkwardly needs to be respected. OURKHANI is racing well and will loom large down in the weights. LOSTARC could be ready to peak and did win here last year.

SELECTIONS: DEXTER YOU DEVIL, Eperdument, Analytica

RACE 7 - 3:56PM Harcourts Adelaide Hills Railway Stakes (1100 METRES)

SISSTAR broke the clock to win smartly first-up at Moonee Valley over 955m. She has the benefit of trialling here prior and is a very good mare who is probably underrated, being a sister to Sunlight. She draws out but is the one to beat. SEEMINGLY DISCREET comes out of some good races in Melbourne and was good behind Grandview Avenue before racing on speed and fading late behind Fabergino last time. This looks right in her sweet spot and she should be in the mix. STREETCAR STRANGER is a promising type who made ground first-up from a spell behind Larkham and his run four starts back in the Lightning Stakes behind Parlaphone was very good. However, he does have an awkward inside gate. STAR HILLS has a great record with nine wins from 24 starts and he won four on end before running down the track in the Christmas Handicap. He’ll be in the mix from a good gate. SYMPHONETTE wears the winkers for the first time, draws a nice gate and is more than capable on her day. SPANISH HEIRLOOM is a filly on the rise and looks over the odds down in the weights with any luck from a tricky gate. GOLDEN HALO is another who has a good record but draws awkwardly. TEQUILA TIME will get a nice run from a perfect gate. STREET LIFE won his only start here and has trialled well for his return, beating Sisstar.

SELECTIONS: SISSTAR, Seemingly Discreet, Streetcar Stranger

RACE 8 - 4:36PM Emmetts John Glatz Country Cup (BM72) (Qualified Horses)(Heat 6 Prov Series) (1900 METRES)

One of the hardest races on the day to line up. On debut for Michael Hickmott, SANDBANKS is a former Victorian with a good record. He was a soft Terang winner two runs back and was on speed at Moonee Valley last time. He draws out but looks well suited here. LIAM’S THE BOSS is another on debut for Michael Hickmott. The former NSW galloper was runner-up at Kembla Grange five starts back. He draws out but must be respected. DR DEE DEE was crunched in betting behind Farooq in the Edenhope Cup two starts back before leading when third behind Pewter at Bordertown. He’s worth some thought. ACE ATTACK has a win and a placing from two starts on his home track. FULTON STREET will make his own luck early from a good gate and was very good two runs back at Morphettville on the Parks track. He jumps up in trip here. PLAISIR made ground last time at Balaklava behind Regal Domain. CHARLTON draws a gate and isn’t the worst.

SELECTIONS: SANDBANKS, Liam’s The Boss, Dr Dee Dee

RACE 9 - 5:11PM Happy Birthday ORC Chairperson Arabella Benchmark 68 Handicap (Heat 4 Autumn Series) (1400 METRES)

AMBIDAZZLE was a Morphettville winner back in December and was favourite behind Lord Vladivostok two runs back, before being beaten 5.6 lengths behind Midnight Storm last time. She draws a gate and has each-way appeal. SKILLED BUNCH has won four of nine and she was too good for Galcrum at Morphettville last time. That form has been franked since. She maps OK from a middle gate and won’t be far away. BORN TO PLAY was well backed first-up from a break behind Load And Go at Morphettville. She trialled well here in the lead-up and draws a nice gate. She’s going to be in the finish. AIGUILETTE draws a sticky gate but both runs back from a spell have been OK. His best form would be in the mix here. MAGIC DEE was a good winner back in class last time and her record is sound for a race like this. RUBBLE wasn’t beaten far first-up at big odds and could be an improver here. COFFEE AMOUR was a Morphettville winner in October and has trialled for this but is probably suited over a touch further. MISS ARTIER is drawn awkwardly but racing well. LIKE A HEARTBEAT is a winner this track.

SELECTIONS: AMBIDAZZLE, Skilled Bunch, Born To Play
