Lincoln Moore's Strathalbyn Preview

BEST BET: MARNDARRA (Race 8)

EACH-WAY: VIVALDI'S QUEST (Race 6)

VALUE: UNBOUNDED (Race 7)

RACE 1 - 1:10PM Milang Caravan Park / SABOIS Maiden Plate (1600 METRES)

NO STRINGS is the interesting runner. He ran well at a price when runner-up behind Grey Vitality at Morphettville in December. Looked good in a jump-out after that and then trialled-up OK at Oakbank last week behind Bribery. WHISKEY 'N' WOMEN was $61 in the race won by Montepulciano and closed well late to be beaten just over three lengths in third spot. JUSTEDEE has had chances, and was a $1.40 favourite three starts back, but did run well in a harder race behind Montepulciano last time and the jump up in trip shouldn’t be an issue. SMILING ASSASSIN draws a good gate and ran well behind Battle Blitz two back, but was only fair last time when sent out favourite. AQAAREB was runner-up at Oakbank two back before leading and tiring behind Montepulciano last time.

SELECTIONS: NO STRINGS, Whiskey 'N' Women, Justedee

RACE 2 - 1:45PM Chooks Little Wine Tours / SABOIS Maiden Plate (1350 METRES)

AMBER HAZE has been placed at six of nine starts, the latest behind Thrill Kill at Morphettville. Out in trip looks ideal but the wide gate is a concern. CELESTIAL ILLUSION had specking on debut at Gawler when beaten 2.9 lengths behind Alotafun. His trials were OK and he has the blinkers for the first time. GANGSTER RAP ran OK at Oakbank two starts back and could improve from a good gate.

SELECTIONS: AMBER HAZE, Celestial Illusion, Gangster Rap

RACE 3 - 2:20PM Goolwa Central Meats / SABOIS Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)

SILVER ON RED led them up when third behind Honey Go Lightly at Morphettville first-up before he was ridden off the speed and came from well back beaten a length behind Three Tears at Murray Bridge. He draws a good gate and should be hard to beat. ABERAMA GOLD is on debut for the Frew stable and won a recent Morphettville jump-out. Stablemate TROUBLED TIMES was well tried at Naracoorte last time when fourth behind Oh Georgia. HALAYR DREAM ran well at Oakbank behind Sister Dee and draws a good gate. GATSBY’S GIRL had handy Victorian form for a maiden like this and was OK at her debut for Shayne Cahill, beaten 4.3 lengths behind Three Tears at Murray Bridge. LULU DESIGN blew like the wind first-up at Morphettville but ran OK behind Impossible Action. Blinkers off here but she’s drawn a touch sticky in gate 12.

SELECTIONS: SILVER ON RED, Lulu Design, Halayr Dream

RACE 4 - 2:55PM Northpoint Fleurieu Class 2 Handicap (1100 METRES)

MISS CARBONI is a former Victorian from the Archie Alexander stable first-up for 10 months for Andrew Clarken. She won her maiden at Stawell over 1300m and her form looks good enough here if anywhere near right. HUSHIANO has a win and placing from two starts here on her home deck and made good ground behind Mrs Hyde at Murray Bridge last time out. MISS ARTIER has won two of four starts here and will find this easier than last time behind Sign Of Ussuri back in June. She is a winner first-up. RANGER CEE JAY goes well here and draws a nice gate, JACJAC JACQUI goes very well this track and trip but has drawn a sticky. PAM’S JOURNEY will probably ride the speed from a good gate and was placed behind Wonder If at Balaklava back in May.

SELECTIONS: MISS CARBONI, Hushiano, Miss Artier

RACE 5 - 3:30PM Port Elliott Hotel Benchmark 54 Handicap (1350 METRES)

TRUMPSTA was formerly with Nick Smart and is now with the Stokes stable. He was runner-up behind Dirty Deeds at Bendigo in August. He trialled only fairly in early December but did have a solid hit-out in a recent Morphettville jump-out when improved. REINVIGORATE was runner-up at Gawler and Murray Bridge before chasing home Happy Atom before a break. CARBONE ran well when coming from back in the field to finish runner-up behind Farewell Greta at Oakbank last time. AMERIWIN was an eye-catching effort, coming from a long way back, when second behind Li’l Hank at Morphettville last time and draws a nice barrier. TRIVAGO GIRL maps well from barrier three and is helped with the claim for Jacob Opperman.

SELECTIONS: TRUMPSTA, Reinvigorate, Carbone

RACE 6 - 4:05PM Talking Hair and Beauty Benchmark 54 Handicap (1350 METRES)

VIVALDI'S QUEST wasn't beaten far behind Vindex first-up from a spell and is a winner here. He's won eight of 37 and although drawn out wide looks to have strong appeal in a race like this. MAGIC DEE ran into some trouble last start but has an OK record on her home track with two placings from four starts here. She draws a gate to be handy and gets her chance to bounce back to winning form. DIHHI is having his third run back and was a Ballarat winner in May. He draws a good gate and has Jason Holder in the saddle. OH GEORGIA was a good winner at Naracoorte last time out but is unplaced in all three starts here on her home track. She is aided with the claim for Maggie Collett. SYLVAN CREST defeated Rising Thunder here three starts back and then beat Minnamosa at Gawler. He led and faded, beaten 4.2 lengths behind Fight For Freedom last time, but should be in the mix.

SELECTIONS: VIVALDI’S QUEST, Magic Dee, Dihhi

RACE 7 - 4:40PM Goolwa Hotel Rating 0-58 Handicap (1200 METRES)

FABULOUS FLIPPER has won three of 16 on her home track (along with six placings) and was impressive at Murray Bridge on the weekend when she ran down All In War. This is no stronger and looks hard to beat on the quick back-up. The extra 100m shouldn’t be an issue. LA RAPIDE was a big drifter ($9-$13) before running down Bolt By at Murray Bridge last time out. Her two efforts were good for a race like this and she has each-way claims. SMART ALICK was on speed and proved too strong when fighting off Turf Tapper at Oakbank two starts back. He was again solid behind Vindex last time and is helped with the claim. The wide gate is a slight concern. UNBOUNDED was easy in betting first-up from a spell but was placed at Morphettville three starts back and look for an improved effort from a nice barrier. POSSUM BORN defeated Fighter at Balaklava two starts back and wasn't far away last time at Gawler behind Munster. She can roll forward and figure prominently here. WICKED WHITT was good two starts back behind Our Deep Agenda at Morphettville and ran OK behind Rubble at Murray Bridge last time. She is drawn off the track here, however.

SELECTIONS: FABULOUS FLIPPER, La Rapide, Unbounded

RACE 8 - 5:15PM Fleurieu Milk Company Benchmark 58 Handicap (2050 METRES)

The McEvoy stable has one runner for the day and MARNDARRA looks very hard to beat in a race like this. She didn't have a lot go right when caught deep on a moderate tempo at Murray Bridge behind Rising Thunder last time and she ran through the line strongly. The extra trip looks ideal and she’s not going to find a better chance to break through. I'M BULLETPROOF has a great record here on his home track and at the distance. He finished off strongly at Murray Bridge behind It's Magic last time. GO BOO BOO has been racing well and thriving getting out in trip. She came off the speed to run down Lollielucas at Murray Bridge last time. Drawn out but must be respected. MASTER OF ZERPRISE is a winner over 2000m and is more than capable in a race like this. He was OK last time behind Stan The Caddy and this is a drop in class. COMFORT MAN didn't do a lot last time behind Stan The Caddy at Gawler but could be an improver here after three runs back from a spell. THE RED SEA was a Balaklava winner over 2200m back in November and he was good at Gawler behind Galahad Guru two starts back. He led and tried hard last time in a stronger race and can make his own luck early despite a poor barrier. DON’T DISMISS was sent out favourite at Port Lincoln but was only fair behind Dance Of Heroes last time.

SELECTIONS: MARNDARRA, I’m Bulletproof, Go Boo Boo

IMAGE: Unbounded is Lincoln Moore’s best value bet at Strathalbyn on Wednesday.
