Lincoln Moore's Naracoorte Preview

BEST BET: ATOMIC WIZARD (Race 4)

EACH-WAY AZZUREIOUS (Race 7)

VALUE: AMBERTONE (Race 3)

Race 1 - 12:45PM Hage Tractors / SABOIS Maiden Plate (1000 METRES)

Handy maiden to kick off the day. ROYAL MILE was good on debut beaten by Our Sustar at Penola when he had good specking. He’d trialled well previously, draws a nice gate and is going to take some beating. ENLIST ran really well behind Another Award and Sitting Bull at Murray Bridge in June and that is a strong form line. He hasn’t raced since running down the track at Gawler. NORTHERN FACTOR is another who has shown ability and was placed twice last preparation at Murray Bridge. He finished third behind Sitting Bull in a Murray Bridge jump-out last month and is sure to primed for this. FENCELINE was only beaten two lengths in the same race and trialled well here previously. He draws a good gate and has had a couple of gear changes, with pacifiers going on and ear muffs off. SANDHILL REBEL draws to be on speed and was placed here in a handy race four runs back. He’s back from the 1400m. BLACK CHEVAL showed ability last time in and TROUBLED TIMES has won a trial at Gawler.

SELECTIONS: ROYAL MILE, Northern Factor, Enlist

Race 3 - 1:55PM Finns Fine Foods Benchmark 72 Handicap (Heat 4 Happy Trails Series) (1430 METRES)

Really good race. FAROOQ is a talented galloper who won two of four before a break and was runner-up behind War Tiger at Morphettville on Adelaide Cup Day. He’s two wins and a second from four starts fresh and does have a touch of class on his rivals. COSMIC RHAPSODY is a smart horse on his day and did contest the Redelva three starts back. He was $13 into $9 first-up at Morphettville when beaten 8.6 lengths behind Soarsa. The form out of that race is only fair but he gets the blinkers and expect him to give this a shake. GOING GAGA has been bursting to win a race. He was tested at 1950m last time but looks better suited back in trip. CARAK is back in trip after beating Jaguary at Penola last week. He draws a nice gate and was placed behind BRIGHT BELLE two runs back. BRIGHT BELLE was very good two back, coming off the speed but had the back of CARAK last start and was no match for the winner. AMBERTONE ran really well at a price at Murray Bridge last week and will get a nice run from the inside gate and is well over the odds.

SELECTIONS: FAROOQ, Cosmic Rhapsody, Going Gaga

Race 4 - 2:30PM Local Trainers Benchmark 62 Handicap (Heat 6 Riziz Sprint Series) (1000 METRES)

Very keen here on ATOMIC WIZARD, who has won four of 14 and three of four starts here on track. He showed a good turn of foot getting through heavy conditions here last time to win by three lengths. He’s back to the 1000m trip, drawn barrier two and gets the claim for Jacob Opperman. He’s going to give them plenty to chase. ACTION IN CAIRNS has a good record and will make his own luck from a sticky wide gate. VON SAGA hasn’t missed a cheque in two starts this track and trip and will appreciate the claim for Scarlet So. If the speed is strong she could be the one finishing over the top of rivals. READY SUNSHINE isn’t the easiest horse to catch but came off the speed to win at Murray Bridge over 1000m five runs back and was good at Cranbourne last time. EXALTED GOLD is another who is drawn well and likely to be on speed. She was beaten 4.1 lengths behind Bray Street Boss at Murray Bridge last Friday and was a winner at her only start this track and trip.

SELECTIONS: ATOMIC WIZARD, Von Saga, Action In Cairns

Race 7 - 4:30PM Naracoorte Radiators Benchmark 68 Handicap (Heat 5 Skybeau Series) (2000 METRES)

Another really good race with horses trying to force their way into a $100,000 race at Morphettville. AZZUREOUS is a horse with a lot of upside. He showed versatility at Morphettville when he made a mid-race move to find the lead and beat home all but Darlamax, who has won since. That’s solid form for this. He draws a nice gate and looks well placed. He looks a better bet at $4.20 with tab.com.au in early markets ahead of HASTA LA FIORENTE who has a good record and doesn’t run too many bad races. He’s just finding one or two better recently. He has form around Manzala and Bertwhistle, which is solid for this. If he can settle and hold a forward spot from the inside gate he’ll take some catching. SEBONNA is an interesting one. Liked his win first up when he swept around them to score but he’s been costly in four runs since. He was again slow from the gates but found the line strongly behind Carak, and the 200m could be perfect for him. JUST ROLLING looks much better suited here back out to 2000m after getting back and making good ground behind The Great Martini over 1700m at Penola. His best is certainly good enough. Stablemate LOOKING AROUND is fitter for two runs back from a break, gets out to a more suitable trip and was a Morphettville winner back in April. The Sue and Jason Jaensch stable also saddles up former NSW galloper GROSVENER BRIDGE, whose only win came at Te Awamutu in NZ on debut. He’s had 20 starts and five stables since but could be an improver.

SELECTIONS: AZZUREOUS, Sebonna, Hasta La Fiorente
