YOUR chance to win on The Greatest Goodwood

Past winners of SA’s most prestigious race are being brought together for The Greatest Goodwood – and by picking the first six across the line YOU could win a fabulous prize worth over $2600.

Thoroughbred Racing South Australia (TRSA) is launching The Greatest Goodwood competition Tuesday morning at 8am: a fun, animated clash featuring all 13 winners of Morphettville’s 1200m Group 1 race from 2007 to 2019.

The initiative involves a specially animated Goodwood – brought further to life by South Australian racecaller Brett Davis – to be ‘run’ online on the morning of Tuesday, May 12 in the lead-up to the 2020 Furphy Goodwood (May 16). This clash of former winners – which will also air on TAB Radio – offers racing fans a chance to win a table of 10 in Restaurant 1873 on 2021 Goodwood Day and $500 cash by picking the first six horses across the line, in order.

“The Goodwood has always been a signature South Australian event and we thought this was a really cool way to actively involve even more people with the race and its history – and give them a chance to win some brilliant prizes,” said TRSA industry marketing manager Michelle Greene.

“Pitting some of those great horses against each other, then giving people the chance to see if their top six matches our top six, just adds another element to our 2020 Adelaide Autumn Racing Carnival.”

Michelle said The Goodwood was always an “outstanding handicap race” until 2006, but was changed to a set weights and penalties race in 2007, and has gone to a new level ever since.

“You only need to see some of the names on the honour roll over the past 13 years to recognise that,” she said.

“We’ve had some legendary winners of The Goodwood in recent times, because those altered race conditions gave them a chance to be competitive. If it was a still a handicap, the likes of Black Caviar and Takeover Target may not be on our winners’ list.”

Entries open at 8am Tuesday, April 28 and close at 8am on Tuesday, May 12.

The Greatest Goodwood – featuring the computer-animated race and race call from Brett Davis – will go live on the TRSA website at 8.45am (Central Standard Time) on Tuesday, May 12. It will also be broadcast on TAB Radio’s Racing Active program that day.
