Multiple Chances in the Viddora Series Final

Saturday’s $100k Viddora Series Final at Morphettville looks to be a wide open affair with six of the eleven runners currently at single figure odds.

On paper it looks to be anyone’s race with many of the runners in Saturday’s Final coming through recent Series Heats. Many of the lead up races have been blanket finishes and with the finalists seeing plenty of each other over the last few months, each runner will be searching for that little edge to take home the $64k winners cheque.

Richard & Chantelle Jolly will saddle up two runners in the final including Bayou who is a winner of two Series Heats. The four-year-old has been super consistent this preparation with her two wins and two placings across the Series and looks a great chance to claim the final.

Jolly’s other runner Rainmoth snuck into the final field and has been nicely supported after markets opened on Wednesday. The mare opened at $11 but now sits at $8 and punters will be hoping she can maintain her undefeated second-up record.  Stable jockey Jake Toeroek maintains the ride on the mare who should appreciate the rise in trip on Saturday.

Early race favourite Despacito just pipped Bayou in a photo last start in a three way go. She heads into the Final worse off at the weights on Saturday as she rises a kilo while Bayou gets Kenny Lau’s 3kg claim. While she was running on strongly, any advantage with the weights could be huge.

The other horse in that photo finish was Leon Macdonald & Andrew Gluyas’ Carlaluisa. She took the lead early down the straight but just couldn’t hang on in a head bobbing finish. Premiership winning jockey Raquel Clark will get back on the mare for the final and if you like Despacito, you have to make a case for this horse as well.

Joining Despacito as a last start winner is the topweight Nipperkin. The most experienced horse in the race was too strong in her last start and has a good record over track and distance. She most definitely has to be respected in this race as she is Stakes placed and did contest the 2018 Group 1 Goodwood.

The Gordon Richards trained Flop, couldn’t quite match Nipperkin last start but gets a positive swing in the weights with Teagan Voorham’s claim. She’s a very consistent horse and like Nipperkin has had a month’s freshen up for this final.

The chances keep running deep in this race with Heat winner Enough Swagger a good each-way chance as is distance specialist Miss Mosh and Emma Hubbard’s Conconi.

Selections:

  1. Bayou 2. Flop 3. Carlaluisa 4. Despacito
