Further warning to trainers from Racing NSW

BOVA OMEPRAZOLE 100MG/ML INJECTION

Racing NSW Stewards refer to the warning that was jointly issued with Bova Australia on 6 June 2019 in respect of the presence of the Anabolic Androgenic Steroid testosterone in a bottle of Omeprazole 100mg/mL injection manufactured by BOVA Australia used for the management of gastric ulcers. In that notice, trainers and veterinarians were warned to immediately stop the use and dispensing of that product until further notice from Racing NSW.

It has come to the attention of Racing NSW Stewards that Bova Australia has issued a notice dated 21 June 2019 in which it advises that it is making that product available for sale again.

The position of Racing NSW has not changed since the notice issued jointly with Bova Australia on 6 June 2019. Racing NSW has not cleared the Omeprazole 100mg/mL injection manufactured by BOVA Australia for possession or use in the NSW thoroughbred racing industry. In this respect, trainers and their veterinarians are reminded that, pursuant to AR 248 and AR 250, it is an offence for a person to have products containing an anabolic androgenic steroid in their possession or to administer such product to a horse.
