A Look at the Listed Oaklands Plate

The penultimate Stakes race of the South Australian racing season is set to be an exciting affair with a quality bunch of two-year olds hoping to record a Listed victory early in their careers.

This year's Listed Oaklands Plate has been moved to July after previously being run during the Adelaide Racing Carnival in May. The race has also been pushed back to a 1400m affair to attract a few more quality two-year olds and this year we should see a full field of runners.

Tony McEvoy will have three runners in the field who are all well in the market including Paris Crystal, Bint Zaheeya and Bring Me Roses. Bring Me Roses finished less than two lengths off the very smart Tennessee Raider in her debut run last month while Jamie Kah gets the run on the undefeated Paris Crystal. Kah has an impressive record when ridding for the McEvoy stable this season riding 14 runners for 7 wins.

The early favourite for the race is Victorian visitor Terry who was heavily backed from $7.50 to $2.70 to win his first race start at Pakenham in June. Matthew Neilson will take the ride on the David Brideoake trained colt on Saturday.

The other Victorian visitor who has been fancied early in betting is the Jason Warren trained Kardashing. The $160k purchase has run behind a couple really smart horses over her career including Pageantry and the early Caulfield Guineas favourite, Royal Symphony.

Local trainer Richard Jolly will have two runners including last start winner Purrfect Kisses and the horse than ran second behind her in Modulate. Nick Smart's colt Silent Command will also have some supporters as he returns from a freshen up after contesting a couple quality races during the Adelaide Racing Carnival before recording a maiden victory in late May.
