The day to day operations of the Thoroughbred Racing SA are managed by a team of dedicated and highly experience individuals.
Chief Executive Officer
Nick commenced with Thoroughbred Racing SA Ltd (TRSA) in June 2008 and has recently been appointed the position of Chief Executive Officer in March 2020.
Nick has a broad experience in the professional services environment as well as working a diverse range of small and large manufacturing enterprises in a number of differing roles.
Nick’s previous role as Chief Operating Officer included the management of the Finance, Administration, IT and Racing Departments as well as overseeing the enforcement of the Betting Operation Contribution legislation.
Chief Operating Officer
Appointed to the position of Thoroughbred Racing South Australia (TRSA) Chief Operating Officer in March 2020, Vaughn joined TRSA in mid-2019 as General Manager - Racing, Wagering and Projects.
Vaughn is a senior wagering and racing executive with over 20 years’ experience in the industry.
He has been prominent in the sector during the Australian wagering environment’s shift from a pari-mutuel only model through to the present time.
He has worked across all three codes of racing, having held senior positions at Harness Racing Victoria and Greyhound Racing Victoria, while also being CEO of Tasracing – the administrator of Tasmania’s three racing codes.
Chairman of Stewards
Appointed to the position in February 2013, Johan previously held the position of TRSA’s Deputy Chairman of Stewards from April 2004.
Johan’s experience includes Thoroughbred Chairman of Stewards in Tasmania (4 years), and Steward/Deputy Chairman of Stewards in South Africa (9 years).
Johan has tertiary qualifications in Science, Law and Project Management. As Chairman of Stewards he is also a member of the National Chairman of Stewards’ Committee to the Australian Racing Board.
Industry Marketing Manager
Appointed as the Marketing Industry Manager in April 2015, Michelle Joins TRSA with over 15 years’ experience in the marketing industry and over twenty years’ experience within the wagering industry including a variety of roles both on and off course.
In her most recent work history she previously worked as TattsBet’s National Marketing Manager Racing, based at the company’s head office in Brisbane. Prior to this role, Michelle spent nine years working as Marketing Manager for SA TAB, which is a member of the ASX listed Tatts Group. Additionally Michelle has worked in the finance and manufacturing sectors, both within marketing roles.
Appointed to the Chief Executive Officer position in mid-April 2009, Jim moved to Adelaide from New Zealand where he held a number of senior positions including, most recently, Chief Executive of the Thoroughbred Racing Action Consortium. Jim is currently in a transitioning role as he hands over his duties to the newly appointed CEO, Nick Redin.
Jim has significant experience across racing advisory groups including NZ Thoroughbred Racing’s Jockey’s Safety Review Group, the NZ Racing Board’s Equine Influenza Crisis Management Group and the Minister of Racing’s Task Force, established to review the NZ Racing Industry.
